This week at market

After a weather event break last week, we are excited to get back to schedule-- Thanks for your understanding!  This week at market we'll have the full compliment of local Nova Scotia goodies, which at this time of year ranges from phenomenal root veggies to stunning greenhouse crops like tomatoes and cukes.

Since moving here, I've learned the turnip is a special vegetable in Nova Scotia.  Technically a rutabaga, this yellow fleshed root veggie is well-suited to growing in the Nova Scotia climate, and our soils make it taste amazing!  They are sweet, flavourful and versatile: eat it raw as a snack, roast it, boil and mash it, add it to soups and stews, or try my favourite turnip recipe: Turnip Puff.  Celebrate Nova Scotia and eat a turnip this week-- We have whole turnip as well as 1 lb bags of cut & peeled, for your convenience!

TapRoot Farms' CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) Program is still accepting registrations for the 2015 season.  Convenient pickup at many locations, including Noggins Seaport, QEII Market, and Hammonds Plains Market.

See you at the market!
